A Day in the Life of an AZ Aspire Academy Student
Choosing the right school for your child is about more than academics — it’s about finding a place where they feel safe, understood, and excited to learn. At AZ Aspire Academy, every school day is intentionally designed to help students build confidence, develop independence, and celebrate their unique strengths in an environment that sees their strengths, and helps work through the challenges. So, what does a typical day at AZ Aspire Academy look like? Let’s take a look!
Personalized Start Time
Before your day even begins, there’s an individualized time that you come to school. With schedules at 7:50-12:50, 8:40-1:40, 9:30-2:30, and 10:20-3:20, each student can start and end their days at a time that works to meet their own unique learning needs!
A Warm Welcome
No matter when your student begins, the day will begin with a warm welcome, greeting, and familiar faces. Our staff knows that a positive start to the day sets the tone for the entire day for our students. Whether a student arrives eager and ready to learn, or needs a little bit of a softer start, we’re there to meet them where they’re at. Each student is welcomed into an environment built on compassion, structure, and consistency.
Learning That Meets Students Where They Are
No two students learn exactly the same way — and that’s something we celebrate! Throughout their day, each student participates in individualized instruction designed around their goals, learning styles, and strengths. Within a “typical” AZ Aspire Academy day, each student receives two periods of 1:1 instruction for English/Language Arts and Math, and then small group instruction in Science, Social Studies, STEAM/PE, and Strategies for Success. With 1:1 instruction, small class sizes, and low student-to-teacher ratios, our instructors can provide personalized support that helps students experience success every day. Each period is 50 minutes long with our students’ school day lasting five hours.
Building More Than Academic Skills
At AZ Aspire Academy, we know that learning isn’t limited to reading, writing, and math. With our Strategies for Success Class, students spend dedicated time with a certified special education teacher working on developing communication skills, self-advocacy, problem-solving , emotional regulation, executive functioning, and social skills that help prepare them for success both in school and life.
Whether it’s practicing teamwork during a group activity, learning how to advocate for themselves, work in one of our campus Soda Shops, or celebrate a personal achievement, every moment at AZ Aspire is a moment and opportunity to grow!
Ending the Day with Confidence
As students end their days, they leave with more than completed assignments (and no homework!). We want them to leave with new experiences, growing independence, meaningful relationships, and confidence that comes with experiencing success in their learning environments!
